Another reason this is a great game for the Thanksgiving holiday is it can be played inside in case you have rainy weather and can’t get out to play.

We did this Christmas Scavenger Hunt last year with my son’s 2nd grade class party and it was a big hit! It was planned as an extra activity in case we needed a party filler, and it was their favorite thing we did at the party. The kids loved searching the classroom for the Christmas pictures and marking them off on the paper.

How to Play Turkey Scavenger Hunt

This turkey hunt game is super easy to pull together. During the busy holidays, a no-prep Thanksgiving activity is perfect for keeping kids busy and having fun!

SUPPLIES

  • Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt Free Printable
  • Scissors
  • Pen/Pencil

First you need to print the Thanksgiving scavenger hunt tracking sheets and cards. You will only need one set of the turkey hunt cards. Print as many scavenger hunt tracking sheets as you need! I recommend one for each player.

I tried to let the kids work in teams for the class party and they all were so excited and wanted their own tracking sheet.

Then you will need to hide the thanksgiving themed cards. If you are doing this for a class party, then hide them in different places in the classroom. When we play at home, I hide the cards all over the house to make the game a little bit harder!

TIP: If you are hiding the cards around the house make a note where you hide them. One year I forgot where I hid the cards and we didn’t find 2 of the cards until 3 days later. My kids were frustrated with me. Ha!

Easy Turkey Hunt Game Directions

While I’m calling this a turkey hunt, the cards are Thanksgiving themed. Kids will search for all 20 cards on their own or with a partner.

Here are 3 fun ways to play this Thanksgiving scavenger hunt game!

Turkey Hunt Game #1

Hide all the cards and set a timer. The player with the most cards marked off their tracking sheet is the winner when the timer goes off.

Timing the hunt makes it more competitive, but it also can go by faster! If you need to burn more time, then I recommend the next turkey hunt idea!

Turkey Hunt Game #2

In this Thanksgiving scavenger hunt, kids will search for the cards until they find them all. This could take awhile depending on how well you hide the cards!

I recommend writing down where you hide the cards so that you can give out hints if the kids get stuck.

Turkey Hunt Game #3

This final idea requires that you write a letter on the back of each card to spell out the word Thanksgiving (12 letters). Tell the kids they have to find all the cards and unscramble the code word with the letters on the back of the card.

Tip: This game works best for a small group of kids that can work together.

Game prizes make every activity more fun! Give out prizes for the player with the most cards marked off their sheet.

I hope you and your family have fun with this Thanksgiving activity this holiday season!
