How to Make a Rustic Wood Slice Ornament
Rustic wood ornaments are so perfect for farmhouse charm at Christmas time.
You can cut your own wood slices from tree branches in your yard. These printable rustic ornaments work best for slice sizes 3-3.5 inches in diameter.
If you are like me and don’t have access to your own wood, then you can find wood slices at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Or you can order them from Amazon and have the shipped to your door. I found these wood slices that have pre-drilled holes so that you can make your ornament even easier!
DIY Rustic Wood Slice Ornament
SUPPLIES:
- Unfinished Wood Slices 3 inches
- Free Printable Rustic Ornament Template Designs
- Mod Podge/Craft Glue
- Decorative twine
- Screw eye hook
- Optional: decorative ribbon, greenery, fake berries
DIRECTIONS:
1. Print Rustic Ornament Templates. You can print these black and white farmhouse style Christmas ornaments at the bottom of this page. Print and cut out the ornaments you want to use.
2. Place the printed ornament on top of the wood slice and trim the paper ornament to fit the wood slice.
4. Use mod podge to glue the paper ornament to the wood slice. Let dry!
5. Use a nail and hammer to start the hole for the eye screw hook. The hole for the eye screw hook should be at the top center of the ornament. Then pull the nail out and twist the eye hook screw into place.
TIP: You can also find wood slice ornaments in 3 inch size with pre drilled holes. For those wood ornaments simple hole punch the paper to line up with the hole. Then thread the decorative string through the hole.
6. Thread the decorative twine through the eye screw hook to hang up the ornament.
